My son has never played basketball. Is this the right camp for him?

We have participants of all skill levels. The most important criterion is an affinity for basketball.

Who are the camp coaches?

The coaching staff is made up of former high school and college basketball players as well as current high school and middle school coaches who have played for Coach Diepenbrock and worked the camp for many years as well as coaches who coach youth teams in the community.

My son doesn’t know anybody. How can you help him to feel more comfortable?

Every year we have boys that come to our camp that don’t know anybody. Because we keep our camp size small and because of our experienced coaching staff (7-to-1 coach-to-player ratio), it makes for a very comfortable and inclusive environment. Your son will know everybody in camp by the end of the week.

Can I drop my son off earlier than the 9:00 a.m. start time?

Yes. Our doors open at 8:30 a.m. for open-play or extra instruction.

Does my son need to bring a snack or lunch?

No. All campers (2nd-9th grade) receive a mid-morning snack. Full-day campers (6th-9th grade) receive a delicious lunch included with price of camp.

Does my son need to bring anything to camp?

Just athletic shoes.

Can I bring a water bottle to camp?

Yes, but it’s not necessary.

I want my son to be grouped with his friends. Is that possible?

Sometimes. The boys are grouped by skill level so it’s possible that we will be able to accommodate friends though we do encourage the boys to interact and meet new people. Because of the small size of camp, they will have plenty of opportunity to see their friends.

My son has a peanut allergy. Can you accommodate him?

Yes. We have this situation quite frequently. We remove all peanut products from our snacks and food items. Please be sure to notify us.

Does my son need to wear sunscreen?

There will be a portion of some camps that may be held on the outside courts for a small part of the day. We will have sunscreen available.

When is a good time to come watch?

We play games the final hour of each session: Half-day campers – 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. All-day campers – 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
